Community Service

I have volunteered at the Blood Drive on Thursday December 17, 2015, at the gym, for 5 hours. The teacher in charge was Mr. Gates, my government teacher. I've helped out few students and teachers who came to donate blood. My job was to check their names on the computer whether they have a donor card or not. It was amazing because I've felt like I was really at work and I was good at it. My teacher was proud of the students who volunteered. To be honest, it was my first time doing volunteer work since I entered high school and I didn't know if I would be any help but there were other students like me who were volunteering and enjoying their role so I did my best too. At the end, we get to as much of snacks we wanted. The most important thing was that many students came to donate. "Do what is right, not what is easy". People chose to donate because they are doing what is right not what they think is easy because they want to feel good by helping others.

I. Introduction

II.    Profile of the organization(s) you worked for. Who are they? What do they do to serve the community? When do they provide their services? Where do they provide their services? Why is there a need for their services?

The American Red Cross team are a group of people who help those in need. They help people who want to donate blood to others. They provide their services when they think they are ready. First, they check their name and question them, then do some blood test. People who also want to help others donate their blood so the American Red Cross team can do their job.

III. The mission statement of the organization. (If you worked for a structured organization not an individual) (hint: look up the mission statement on the organization's website

Vision: Our vision is to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment where all students will recognize and achieve their fullest potential, with support from staff and community resources, so all are prepared for college/career and ultimately contributing their life purpose and skills to society.

Mission: Fowler High School recognizes that each student is an individual; that all students are creative; that all students need to succeed. Therefore, Fowler High School respects the individual needs of students; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, intellectual development of each student.

III.  Description of the specific tasks you performed for the organization or individual

IV.  Discuss any memorable personal experience; positive or negative, you had during your service that you feel were important. How these tasks impacted the mission of the organization or the well-being of the individual?

To be honest, it was my first time doing volunteer work since I entered high school and I didn't know if I would be any help but there were other students like me who were volunteering and enjoying their role so I did my best too.

VI.  Conclusion:  Your personal reactions to the act of performing community service. Positive and/or negative reactions. Do you feel you made a difference? Why or why not. What impact do you believe community service has on our society? Would you recommend your community service opportunity(ies) to other students Why or why not?

The most important thing was that many students came to donate. "Do what is right, not what is easy." People chose to donate because they are doing what is right not what they think is easy. And they want to feel proud because they are helping others in need by donating their blood.
